2023 Hyundai Alcazar debuts with a new turbo option

Hyundai has unveiled a refreshed Alcazar SUV for India, essentially a stretched, three-row take on the Creta. Per Autocar India, the soft-roader comes to the market with mild exterior updates and extended standard trim, as well as a new 1.5-liter petrol turbo.

The new mill phases out the old 2.0-liter naturally aspirated one, offering 160 PS (158 hp / 118 kW) and 253 Nm (187 lb-ft) of torque. The latter is a considerable improvement over the old engine’s 192 Nm (142 lb-ft). The new one is also advertised for its superior fuel economy, not least thanks to a start-stop feature.

The available transmissions are six-speed manual and seven-speed DCT, with automatic no longer an option.

Those who would rather have the old 1.5-liter turbo with 115 PS (113 hp / 85 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque may still purchase it with six-speed manual or auto.

On the outside, the facelift boils down to a revised front grille and modified headlights in the top trims. The base spec now also has six airbags inside instead of just two.

The Alcazar for India is a three-row crossover SUV coming in at 150 mm (6 inches) longer than the Hyundai Creta it is based upon. Customers can choose between six and seven seats.
