Hyundai Elantra/Avante photos revealed

South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai has released photos of its updated Elantra model meant for the domestic market, where it goes under the name “Avante”.

On the outside, the car is visually identical to its North American counterpart which debuted a few days ago. Compared to the pre-facelift model, it has a redesigned radiator grille, new bumpers, headlights, and hood cover.

The interior sports quite a few changes that reach as far as the steering wheel, the dashboard, the instrument panel and the infotainment system. The latter can now identify currently played tracks.

The series now takes advantage of a Safe Exit feature that prevents the rear doors of the car from being opened whenever there is a vehicle approaching from behind.

The refreshed Hyundai Elantra/Avante will ship with a new 1.6-liter engine rated at 123 hp (92 kW). The previous 1.6 GDI unit with 132 hp and 7.3 l / 100 km fuel consumption will no longer be available.

The new engine is somewhat more efficient, using up around 6.6 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers travelled. This roughly corresponds to 43 MPG in Great Britain or 36 MPG in the USA.

Other options will include a gasoline V4 turbo with 204 hp / 152 kW, a diesel rated at 136 hp / 101 kW and a CNG engine capable of 120 hp / 90 kW. Available transmission include manual, automatic and DCT.

The car will see its live debut in early September, simultaneously with the sales launch.
