Hyundai’s littlest CUV appears on photos

Hyundai has shared images of its most compact crossover to date, the Casper.

The car has five doors and is 3,595 mm (140.5 inches) long, 1,595 mm (62.3 inches) wide and 1,575 mm (61.5 inches) tall with 2.4 meters (93.75 inches) between the axles. It utilizes the same Hyundai-Kia K1 architecture as the AC3 i10 model and can transport up to four people.

The body has been designed from the ground up with rear door handles recessed in window bezels, two-tier headlamps, a gradient grille, and stamped-out fenders.

Power comes from a 1.0-liter engine available in naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms. The former offers 75 PS (74 hp / 55 kW) and the latter 99 PS (98 hp / 73 kW). A four-speed automatic transmission sends the power to the front axle and front axle only.

An electric modification is also coming up with so far undisclosed parameters. It might get a Borg Warner engine rated at 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW), according to rumors.

The interior and the rest of the specs remain to be revealed.

Production in South Korea will begin on September 15, 2021. The car will be available on its domestic market and others, including India and Western Europe.
