Next-gen Hyundai ix25/Creta launched in China

Hyundai has launched the second generation of its ix25 SUV in China, also known as the Creta in some countries. The exterior takes cues from the Palisade, while the cabin now packs a digital dash and a portrait-oriented multimedia touchscreen.

The company believes that making the new Hyundai ix25/Creta resemble the Palisade should make it more attractive for younger target audiences. The dual-tone exterior paintjob and the advanced multimedia features seem to reinforce this point.

The cabin now hoses a large-sized dashboard screen and a touch-sensitive, vertically aligned infotainment display. The system supports voice control, although the available command list fails to impress, being quite short.

Further equipment includes ten electronic driver aids, such as the blind zone monitor, drowsiness alert, etc. Paying extra gets you 360-degree-view cameras, panoramic roof, keyless entry, and adaptive cruise control.

Showrooms across China currently only offer the Hyundai ix25 series with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine mated to a CVT. The unit pushes 115 hp (86 kW) to the front wheels, but you can opt for the AWD.
