Hyundai Creta EV presents specs

Hyundai hopes to launch the all-electric Creta version in 2025, but Autocar India has already received word from insiders regarding its technical specifications. The range in particular looks worrying compared to some of the competition.

According to these unconfirmed reports from India, the carmaker plans to install 45-kWh battery packs in Creta EVs. Most of the competing crossovers in the country take advantage of larger batteries. For example, the Maruti Suzuki eVX is coming to the market with 50 kilowatt-hours of capacity, while the MG ZS EV has a 60-kWh battery option. It is possible that Hyundai wants to undercut their pricing, though.

As for the powertrain, rumor has it the Creta EV will utilize a single e-motor rated at 138 PS (136 hp / 101 kW) and 255 Nm (188 lb-ft) of torque. It’s more than the entry-level modifications of the ICE Creta output. Later on, Hyundai will allegedly reuse the same powertrain in the entry-spec Kona EV.

In the meantime, the Creta lineup is getting ready for a planned facelift, which is set to debut on January 16, 2024. The electric version of the CUV will be based on the same car and receive the same styling.
