The Hyundai Elantra GT Sport hatchback has been available on the U.S. car market since the summer of 2017. The car was virtually identical to the Europe-sold Hyundai i30 and came equipped with a 1.6-liter turbo engine with 204 hp (152 kW), linked to either a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed semi-automatic one. Now, Hyundai has decided to replace the ‘Sport’ trim with a new one called the ‘N Line’. While this might seem like a meaningless name swap to you, it really isn’t.
The changes are there, but you have to know where to look to find them. To list just a few, the new Hyundai Elantra GT N Line sports new, stiffer transmission mounts, suspension springs both front and rear, and engine mounting brackets. It also comes with tuned shock absorption, a new anti-sway bar and improved steering. Gearstick versions will also ship with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires instead of Hankook ones.
On the outside, the car sports new bumpers styled like those of the Hyundai i30 N, while inside there is a new steering wheel and fewer red accents. Finally, there were changes in the available features list.
The base Hyundai Elantra GT N Line will set you back U.S. $23,300 if you like to drive the stick, or $24,400 if you prefer automatic gear switching.
The car debuted at the Detroit Motor Show.
