Hyundai has released the main specifications of the range-topping N version of its Elantra sedan, along with some interior pics.
The car comes powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine rated at 280 PS (276 hp / 206 kW) and 392 Nm (289 lb-ft) of torque, which connects to either six-speed manual or seven-speed DC transmission. The manual version supports automatic engine RPM adjustment to best suit the currently selected gear.
Outside, the car sports a body kit with side skirts, a diffuser and a large rear spoiler, as well as 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero rubber.
The seats now boast enhanced lateral support, and the digital dash screen displays telemetry alongside with such useful real-time data as overloads or current boost pressure. A dedicated button on the steering wheel can be used to switch between various drive modes, which affects engine and transmission parameters, ESP performance and steering behavior. A new feature called N-Grin Shift (NGS) can be used for a brief torque boost.
Until the Elantra N hits the showrooms, the latest N-Line will remain the strongest in the lineup, packing a 1.6-liter turbo-four mill good for 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and a six-speed manual transmission (DCT also available).
