Video: Hyundai Elantra N goes up against Honda Civic Type R

Let us watch a series of 402-meter drag races between a powerful Hyundai Elantra N and a similarly ambitious Honda Civic Type R!

The hottest Elantra makes use of a 2.0-liter four-pot turbo with 280 PS (276 hp / 206 kW), which a button labeled ‘NGS’ on the wheel briefly pushes to 290 PS (286 hp / 213 kW). The torque peaks at 392 Nm (289 lb-ft). With an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission to carry it, the Korean sedan reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) before the timer counts to five seconds.

The Civic Type R is no slouch, either, packing a similar 2.0-liter four-banger turbo with 310 PS (306 hp / 228 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). The transmission is manual, meaning you have to learn to nail the launch.

The first race was an utter failure due to the host of the video fumbling the start driving the Elantra N, but the subsequent races saw that car piloted by its owner to some impressive results.
