Will Hyundai Elantra N outrun Honda Accord in a drag race?

The Hyundai Elantra N has been a frequent guest to the drag strip lately, and a recent video compares it against a similar-specced Honda Accord.

Powering the Elantra N is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 280 PS (276 hp / 206 kW) and 392 Nm (289 lb-ft) of torque. Pushing a button labeled ‘N Grin Shift’ on the steering wheel boosts the output to 290 PS (286 hp / 213 kW) for a short period.

In turn, the Honda Accord has a 2.0-liter turbo as well, but it is rated slightly below its rival at 256 PS (252 hp / 188 kW) and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) of torque.

Watch the race yourself to find out which one is faster – the video is only eight minutes long and features a number of attempts.

Thinking of future Elantra N competitors, the next-gen Honda Civic Type R comes to mind. After it debuts in the USA in July this year and goes on sale, it could give the Korean performance car a run for its money.
