It turns out that Hyundai’s Genesis sub-brand has recently sold its millionth vehicle, but the company apparently chose not to make a fuss out of it in the media.
Genesis crystallized into a standalone brand in 2015. In August 2023, the company briefly mentioned exceeding a million units in worldwide car sales in its monthly report. It neglected to take note which specific model was the 1,000,000th to roll off the assembly line.
The reports also indicate that South Korea accounted for most of the sales with 690,177 local buyers. Over 225,000 units shipped overseas to the United States, and the remaining 85,000 units or so went to other countries. The G80 sedan pictured below remains the company’s best-selling model so far.
