New Hyundai Grandeur crops up on the first images

South Korean automaker Hyundai has posted the official shots of the seventh-generation Grandeur sedan. The car landed with a rather futuristic exterior and a contrasting retro-themed cabin.

Hyundai neglected to mention any powertrain details, but rumors claim the Grandeur will be technically close to the Kia K8. Its dominant exterior traits include a huge radiator grille and an LED strip running between the hood cover and the front bumper. The rear end also boasts an LED strip spanning its entire width, likely borrowed as is from the Ioniq 6.

The manufacturer emphasizes that the seventh generation of the sedan is ripe with design homages to the first generation dating back to the 1980s. Most of these can be found inside the car and include the steering wheel and the minimalist front panel. The gear selector also resides at the wheel now, but the center console still offers a touchscreen for HVAC controls. A large display fulfils the roles of the dashboard and the multimedia screen. In the end, the design is a mish-mash between modern and retro.

The full premiere remains slated for late 2022.
