Hyundai has released the first teaser pic showing the upcoming third generation of the i10, its smallest hatchback on offer. The car will be exhibited at the 2019 International Motor Show Germany in the coming September.
Based on the image, the urban car will retain its principal features while growing considerably larger than its predecessor. The current i10 has a wheelbase spanning only 2,385 millimeters (7.82 feet), so any kind of improvement is actually welcome.
The company says the update will bring along a reversing cam, a wireless phone charger, an up-to-date infotainment system and a whole range of driver aids, including adaptive high beam, lane control, driver attention warning, and pedestrian-aware automatic emergency brake.
The current-gen Hyundai i10 (featured in the video) ships with a 1.0-liter gas engine rated at 66 hp (49 kW) and its 1.25-liter counterpart churning out 87 hp (65 kW). The available transmissions are five-speed manual and four-speed automatic, and a 100-hp (75-kW) turbocharged engine is rumored to be underway with the next generation.
Once the i10 Mk3 hits the showrooms, it will mainly have to compete against the Volkswagen Up and the Skoda Citigo for customers’ money.
