Hyundai schedules 3rd-gen i20 for GIMS-2020 reveal

Hyundai has confirmed the premiere of the next-generation i20 hatchback at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2020. In the meantime, new spy photos arrived showing a disguised test car.

Curiously enough, the car was spotted with an exposed radiator grille last summer, but the company chose to disguise it again for some reason (design changes?).

The new i20 will likely follow the modern trends by becoming slightly longer and wider than its predecessor shown in the video. As for the exterior styling, we expect it to resemble its larger-sized cousin, the i30.

The new generation will come driven by a 1.0-liter engine available in turbocharged and non-turbo versions, as well as a 1.2-liter non-turbo mill. Other possibilities include 1.5-liter diesel and electrified powertrains. The ‘hot’ i20 N hatch will likely pack a 1.6-liter turbo unit and send 200 hp (150 kW) to the wheels. Transmissions should include manual and semi-automatic, but IVT is also possible.

Inside, the 10.25-inch digital dashboard and same-sized infotainment display will likely be combined in to a single unit.

Sales should start later this year.
