We have already seen spy pics of the new Hyundai i20 N hot hatch testing on the Nürburgring, but the latest batch shows the development vehicle in more detail than before.
The i20 N has been designed to compete with the likes of Ford Fiesta ST, Toyota GR Yaris and VW Polo GTI. As such, it should occupy the market niche directly underneath the range-topping i30 N. Most reviewers tend to agree it is getting around 200 horsepower (150 kilowatts), but the specific engine make remains unknown. Plausible guesses include the 2.0-liter turbo mill of the i30 N and the 1.6-liter one of the Kia Ceed GT.
Hyundai released teaser pics and videos featuring the i20 N in early May, so the reveal should take place soon. However, the specific date remains unknown due to the uncertain global situation. We would expect it to fall upon late 2020 or maybe even early 2021, given that the South Korean automaker has two other performance cars to launch as well – the Kona N and Tucson N.
