Hyundai has posted the first images of its smallest hot hatch on offer, the i20 N. Unlike the spy shots made earlier, the pics show bits of the car without the camo wrap.
One could point out such highlights as large air intakes, special 18-inch wheels, new side sills and a rear spoiler. The Performance Blue paint is exclusive to the Hyundai N line, and you can pay extra to have the roof finished in Phantom Black. Red accents are also not absent.
The technical specs still haven’t been announced, but reporters have had a chance to try out the hot hatch – watch the video to learn the details. In short, the 1.6-liter turbo four-pot produces around 204 hp (152 kW) and 275 Nm (203 lb-ft) of torque, putting the model on par with the Elantra N Line. Six-speed manual fills in the role of the transmission, and limited-slip differential is also available, although some markets will only get is as a paid option. Weighing in at just 1,200 kilos (2,645 lbs), the car hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in about 6.7 seconds, maxing out at 230 km/h (143 mph).
Sales in Europe start this spring. The Hyundai i20 N will join the company of the larger i30 N and i30 Fastback N models, and will compete for customers’ attention against the Volkswagen Polo GTI и Ford Fiesta ST.
