Meet the part-electric Hyundai i20 N WRC racer

The WRC championship did not escape the electrification fad and now requires all its participants to use exclusively hybrid vehicles. Hyundai has risen up to the challenge and presented its own victory contender, the i20 N Rally1 2022 Edition.

Powering the ride is a 1.6-liter petrol engine assisted by an electric motor for around 500 PS (493 hp / 368 kW) in total. The regulation prescribe all Rally1 category vehicles to use simpler suspension designs and a five-speed gearbox without inter-axle differential. Concealed air intakes and liquid-cooled brakes are also off-limits.

The new WRC season kicks off in Mote Carlo on January 20, 2022, and will span 13 stages.
