The third generation of the Hyundai i30 hatchback series, which you can see on the video here, has been around for three years. Judging from these spy pics, a facelift is coming up in 2020.
Despite the thick cladding, you can still tell the new headlights, redesigned taillights and Sonata-like radiator grille.
In all likelihood, the refresh will keep all or most of the engines in the lineup. The current i30 ships with the following range of options:
• 1.0T (120 hp / 90 kW, 171 Nm / 126 lb-ft);
• 1.4 (100 hp / 75 kW, 134 Nm / 99 lb-ft);
• 1.4T (140 hp / 104 kW, 242 Nm / 178 lb-ft);
• 2.0T (250 hp / 186 kW, 353 Nm / 260 lb-ft);
• 2.0T (275 hp / 205 kW, 353 Nm / 260 lb-ft);
• 1.6 TDi (95 hp / 71 kW, 280 Nm / 207 lb-ft);
• 1.6 TDi (115 hp / 86 kW, 280 Nm / 207 lb-ft);
• 1.6 TDi (136 hp / 103 kW, 280…320 Nm / 207…236 lb-ft).
Customers may choose either six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, but front-wheel drive is the only option available.
A hybrid Hyundai i30 might also emerge, specced similarly to the Kona or the technically similar KIA Ceed PHEV (1.6 liters, 141 hp / 105 kW, 265 Nm / 195 lb-ft total).
