South Korea reporters claim that they found out about the latest turbocharged engine Hyundai was developing for its performance cars.
It is reported that the mill has 2.3 liters of displacement and maxes out at around 7,000 RPM. Its exact specs remain to be confirmed, but the company will allegedly pair it up with an 80-hp (60-kW) electric motor for around 400 hp (300 kW) total.
Media in Australia seem to agree with the prediction, saying that the new hybrid powertrain will be implemented in the next-gen Hyundai i30N slated to arrive in five years. The same rings true for the next-gen Veloster N. Both performance cars currently utilize 2.0-liter Theta T-GDI turbos rated up to 275 hp (205 kW).
