RaceChip unveils Hyundai i30 N hot hatch with 316 horses under the hood

As soon as it came out, the Hyundai i30 N performance hatchback proved a good enough competitor of the Volkswagen Golf GTI, diminishing the latter’s market share considerably. Even so, car atelier RaceChip found the car still somewhat lacking in the engine power department and issued an upgrade package to address this issue.

In its production version, the “hot hatch” comes driven by a 2.0L turbo engine with 271 hp (202 kW) and 353 Nm (260 lb·ft) of torque. A simple chip tuning brings these figures up to 309 hp (230 kW) and an impressive 498 Nm (367 lb·ft) of torque.

For those who want more, the atelier suggests upgrading the exhaust system with a new downpipe, raising the performance further to 316 hp (236 kW) and 524 Nm (386 lb·ft).

Among other things, RaceChip proposes installation of new springs and anti-roll bars for the vehicle to better cope with the boosted engine.

Aesthetic improvements include new wheels clad in Michelin tires and a paint protection film.

The atelier says the upgrade package is compatible with the U.S.-sold Hyundai Veloster N as well. Its exact price, however, remained unannounced.
