Shortly after bringing its Ioniq 5 model to the market, Hyundai intends to keep conquering the EV segment by launching a new four-door battery ride named the Ioniq 6. The car will utilize the E-GMP platform and resemble the Prophecy Concept unveiled last year.
The technological underpinnings will enable it to charge up rapidly and support a wide variety of powertrains. Both the Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6 can cover over 550 kilometers (342 miles) on a charge, and the Ioniq 6 will likely have 650 or even 700 km (404 – 435 miles) of electric range thanks to its longer wheelbase allowing for more power cells to be placed.
It has to be pointed out that the Ioniq 5 has already become a sales hit, collecting over 236,000 pre-orders in Europe within a few days from the launch. Furthermore, the first edition dubbed “Project 45” has sold out in a day. Shipments should start soon.
Looking into the future, Hyundai plans to launch a new crossover SUV called the Ioniq 7 in three years’ time, and increase its annual EV production volume to 560,000 units by 2025. There will be 12 different full-electric Hyundai models on offer by that year.
