Hyundai shoots a short film about Ioniq

Hyundai’s latest feature video entitled ‘Defying Convention’ focuses on the past, present and future of the company’s battery sub-brand, Ioniq, which is being compared with the Hyundai Pony and praised as the key milestone on the way to all-electric mobility.

Erin Baker, a journalist and part of the World Car of the Year jury board, played one of the principal roles in the film. Speaking of her impressions after awarding the Ioniq 5 the abovementioned title, she said there were many reasons to pick that particular car aside from its great looks.

On the outside, the Ioniq 5 resembles the Pony, Hyundai’s first production car introduced in 1974 as South Korea’s first passenger vehicle produced in the country. According to Hyundai, it expects its current Ioniq lineup to lead another revolution of a similar scale in the whole car industry.

The footage also focuses on select aspects of car exterior design, showcases the E-GMP tech platform and looks at the current and the future cars of the Ioniq family. The Ioniq 5 and 6 are the only two available right now, but a large SUV dubbed the 7 is coming soon. In addition to this, Hyundai has once again confirmed that its N subdivision will build performance EVs like it did with ICE cars.

Speaking of the features, the company highlights an innovative solution called V2L (Vehicle 2 Load), which allows you to use your car’s battery to power third-party devices and appliances.
