Hyundai plans to expand its Ioniq EV lineup in June. The existing SUV Ioniq 5 will be accompanied by a sedan with the number 6 for model name and a design inspired by the Prophecy Concept.
In the meantime, Korean Car Blog reports citing unofficial sources that the new car will be comparable to the Hyundai Sonata in terms of size and offer more than 300 km (310 miles) of range on a charge.
The publication claims that the Ioniq 6 is 4,855 mm (190 inches) long with 2,950 mm (115 inches) of wheelbase. In terms of interior space, the model will allegedly offer as much freedom as a typical luxury car a whole class above it. The production version of it will be slightly larger than the concept due to some aerodynamic modifications.
At first, the Ioniq 6 will ship with the same powertrain as the flagship spec of the Ioniq 5: dual motors and 306 PS (302 hp / 225 kW). It will allegedly come with a battery larger than its predecessor’s 77.4 kilowatt-hours and therefore have more than 500 km (310 miles) of driving range. The domestic variant for Korea will have 515 km (320 miles) of range and the EU spec 550 km (342 miles), KCB claims.
The production is expected to start in July.
