The North American version of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 has debuted earlier today at the LA Auto Show. The sales are scheduled to begin this spring, with the buyers getting two years of unlimited 30-minute charging sessions at Electrify America stations. All pricing details are pending.
On the outside, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 looks identical to its international version previewed earlier this year, with one notable difference. The U.S. car has to use side mirrors instead of cameras due to restrictions imposed by NHTSA, hence, its drag ratio is higher by 0.01.
The electric ride comes with two battery sizes to choose between: 53 and 77.4 kilowatt-hours. The standard spec uses a single electric motor with 151 PS (149 hp / 111 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. A middle spec is also offered with a stronger motor capable of 225 PS (222 hp / 165 kW). The top spec benefits from dual motors and 320 PS (316 hp / 235 kW), as well as 605 Nm (446 lb-ft) of torque.
According to Hyundai, the single-motor car with the larger battery pack is the optimum choice for anyone wishing to maximize the driving range at 340 miles (547 km). That said, the dual-motor version is not far behind with nearly 370 miles (500 km) of range on a charge.
