When Hyundai showed us a pre-production copy of its second-gen Creta crossover (a.k.a. ix25) at the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show this spring, it never disclosed any technical specs. Today, the car was added to the patent database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and IT, along with photos and some specs.
As far as the looks are concerned, the 2020 Hyundai ix25/Creta stays true to its prototype version. The headlights are cascaded, with the DRLs up top, the main lights in the middle and the anti-fog lamps below. The taillights are two-tier, and the brake light is represented by a thin LED strip on the trunk lid.
The company never revealed what technical platform the newcomer is based upon, but it did mention that the old 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine with 125 hp / 93 kW would no longer be available, replaced by a new 1.5-liter one with 115 hp / 86 kW at its disposal. Transmissions remain unannounced, but the Chinese media seem to agree that the new 1.5 unit supports CVT. As for the old 1.4-liter turbo mill (140 hp / 104 kW), it will likely continue to be available with the 7-speed DCT.
At 4,300 mm (14.11 ft.) long and 1,790 mm (5.87 ft.) wide, the newcomer is only marginally larger than its predecessor. Its wheelbase amounts to 2,610 mm (8.56 ft.).
Inside, the most anticipated additions include panoramic glass roof and multimedia system with vertical display (like the one the concept car came with). Paid options list will likely include adaptive cruise control and numerous driver aids.
