Rumors that Honda was working on a performance version of its Kona mini-SUV first appeared a couple years ago, along with the first spy pics. Today, we may have a glimpse of the production car at last.
In all likelihood, the new Kona N will debut after the 2021 Kona facelift later this year. Like all other N vehicles, the newcomer boasts extended wheel arches, dual exhaust tips, red brake calipers, and other such power attributes. You may look at the video here, which shows the standard Kona, and compare for yourself.
New bumpers and spoilers are also a possibility, but the wrap conceals these parts too well to jump to conclusions now.
The technical information about the Hyundai Kona N is still absent. Earlier on, industry observers had voiced opinions that the SUV would inherit the turbo-four mill of the latest i30 N with its 275 horsepower (205 kilowatts). However, it looks like the hot hatch will be receiving a power boost later in the year, so the new Kona might as well get the 300 hp (224 kW) of the Volkswagen T-Roc R. As for the transmissions, customers will likely be able to choose between six-speed manual and seven-speed DCT.
