Hyundai teases what appears to be the new Kona N in deer guise

The Hyundai N division has posted a pic showing a camouflaged vehicle with antlers sticking out of its windows and a driver’s helmet adorning the hood.

It also posted a video that completely fails to show anything informative, but claims that a performance car is “coming soon”. This most likely refers to the Kona N, which the company announced as far back as spring 2018. Test mules have been repeatedly sighted on the roads since then, so a premiere should not be too far away.

The hot SUV will most likely come equipped with the Veloster N/i30 N 2.0-liter turbo-four mill rated close to 280 hp (210 kW). Chances are it will also take advantage of a state-of-the-art eight-speed DCT gearbox and AWD.

Compared against its stock counterpart, the Kona N should also sport lower ride height, upgraded suspension, wider fenders, a front splitter, a rear spoiler, and a diffuser with two exhaust tips at the sides. Red accents are also pretty much mandatory.

The launch timeframe remains unknown, but the teasers make it look like the car is almost ready to break cover. With all major auto shows canceled or postponed, we should expect an online debut in the coming weeks.
