The top-of-the-line Hyundai Kona currently churns out 198 PS (195 hp / 146 kW) and 265 Nm (195 lb-ft) of torque, but things will change soon with the launch of the N version.
The automaker has officially confirmed that the Kona N would be getting a two-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine burning gasoline in tandem with an eight-speed dual-wet-clutch transmission. The specs remain to be announced, but the i30 N comes with a similar setup available in two versions: 250 PS (247 hp / 184 kW) and 280 PS (276 hp / 206 kW). The former commands up to 353 Nm (260 lb-ft) of torque and the latter 392 Nm (289 lb-ft). Both are AWD.
Further Kona N features include redesigned bumpers, 19-inch wheels, launch control, low suspension with different springs and shocks, performance brakes, a louder exhaust, and tuned ECUs.
