Hyundai Kona presents specs in South Korea

Hyundai has started taking pre-orders for the second-generation Kona SUV on its domestic market. We learned what the model looked like in December 2022, but the specifications have only been published today.

In its most basic spec, the Kona Mk.2 utilizes the same old 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine capable of 149 PS (147 hp / 110 kW) and 180 Nm (133 lb-ft). The transmission is infinitely variable and the drive is on the front axle without any further options.

Next up the line is a 1.6-liter turbo mill with 198 PS (195 hp / 146 kW) at its disposal. For this one, buyers can choose between FWD and AWD. The transmission is eight-speed automatic.

Finally, the Hyundai Kona Hybrid spec based on the 1.6-liter non-turbo engine is still on sale as well, delivering its usual 141 PS (139 hp / 104 kW) and 265 Nm (195 lb-ft) of torque. A six-speed DCT handles the momentum in this version.

The international Kona remains scheduled for premiere in the coming spring. Hyundai says it will unveil an all-electric variant of the SUV at around the same time.
