Hyundai Australia has confirmed that it is considering releasing a serious full-sized SUV in the country that would be able to compete with the iconic Toyota Land Cruiser series. There are many conditions to fulfil before this can become reality, though.
Andrew Tuitahi, a representative of the Australian branch of Hyundai, says the local market poses a number of challenges for manufacturers aiming to produce and sell this specific type of car, but none of them is deal-breaking.
We already know certain specifics about the car, namely that it is expected to feature a body-on-frame construction and come powered by the turbocharged diesel engine of the Genesis GV80, rated at 278 PS (274 hp / 204 kW).
At 4,981 mm (16.34 feet) long, the Palisade (see the photos and the video) is the largest SUV made by the South Korean marque right now. The car ships in the United States powered by a 3.8-liter V6 rated at 295 PS (291 hp / 217 kW). The South Korean spec is diesel-based and has 202 PS (200 hp / 150 kW).
