Hyundai Santa Cruz truck shows up outdoors

The Santa Cruz – Hyundai’s newest compact-sized pickup truck – is slated to debut worldwide in several months rocking modern looks inspired by the latest Tucson. In the meantime, car spotters have tracked down a pre-production unit to an iced-over lake in Finland.

The mini-truck stubbornly refuses to shed camo even as the premiere draws near. It seems to be comparable with the recently facelifted Honda Ridgeline and the upcoming Ford Maverick in terms of body dimensions.

Tucson-inspired parts include posh-looking wheels, side mirrors, the sunroof, and the radiator grille. It would make sense for the Santa Cruz to inherit the Tucson powertrain choices as well. Having said that, it will likely be marketed as a family car for active leisure and picnic lovers, rather than a heavy-duty workhorse, so don’t expect too much performance.

The production is set to begin in late 2021.
