Video: Korean modular truck vs. Japanese modular truck

When the Hyundai Santa Cruz debuted this year, we pointed out that it was a rare example of a unibody pickup – but far from unique. For example, there’s also the Honda Ridgeline, which has been on sale in the USA since the 2000s. A new video by Sam CarLegion compares both on the drag strip.

The Santa Cruz comes powered by a turbocharged gasoline engine rated at 286 PS (282 hp / 210 kW) and 422 Nm (311 lb-ft) of torque. It weighs in at around 4,000 pounds (1,814 kilograms).

Powering the Ridgeline is a V6 capable of the same power output but lower peak torque (355 Nm / 262 lb-ft). It also weighs around 10% (400 lbs / 181 kg) more than its rival.

We have a clear favorite on paper, but which one will prove to be really faster? Watch and find out!
