The two leading Korean carmakers will be launching three hybrid versions of their crossovers/SUVs later this year, including the Santa Fe, the new Tucson (see video), and the Sorento.
The brands’ combined lineup for 2025 includes 13 mild hybrids, 6 PHEVs, 23 BEVs, and 2 hydrogen cars.
The Korean automotive market will see its first pure EV in 2021, and a dedicated BEV architecture should emerge closer to 2024.
Autonomous driving is another major point of interest for the two companies, as evidenced by their recent deal with Aptiv (formerly known as Delphi Automotive). By 2023, Aptiv pledges to produce SAE Level 4 and 5 self-driving solutions for its partners. At 87 billion USD, the planned amount of investment is frankly staggering.
