Some say a new trend might emerge in the automotive industry in the near future, favoring the open-top SUV segment of the market. For instance, Range Rover is still offering its drop-top Evoque, and Volkswagen is going to premiere its all-new T-Roc convertible in 2020. Then again, the evidence is still scarce, at best.
A seven-seat convertible version of the Hyundai Santa Fe has recently been sighted in Australia. Asked for details, the company explained that the vehicle was created exclusively for a single ad shoot. As such, it is not a prototype of any kind and not even street-legal.
Nevertheless, our Australian colleagues have somehow managed to get Hyundai’s permission for a test drive in the unusual car. Watch the video for more details.
In short, the reporters found the car insufficiently windproof, rather instable due to the removed roof and not sporty enough due to the somewhat lackluster diesel engine. But then again, what did they expect from an ad prop?...
