Car spotters have discovered a test mule of the next-gen Hyundai Sonata sedan in the UAE. Let’s have a look at the photos and see what’s new.
Well, it looks like the South Korea-made car gets an interesting taillight design spanning the entire width of its rear fascia. The two brake lights are C-shaped and connected with each other via a LED stripe. Then again, this rear lighting layout is not new and is becoming a bit of a trend lately.
According to some rumors, the next Sonata will ship with a 2.5-liter GDi engine. Mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions should also be available. The top N trim may be released at a later date with maybe 275 or 280 hp (205 – 210 kW) at its disposal.
The current Hyundai Sonata lineup also contains a plug-in hybrid version. It features a drivetrain that comprises a 2.0-liter gasoline engine rated at 156 hp (116 kW), an electric motor contributing another 68 hp (51 kW) and a 12.9 kWh battery.
