Hyundai Stargazer turns into a CUV for Indonesia

The Hyundai office in Indonesia has attended the recent Gaikindo Expo with a new car named Stargazer X, a crossover SUV variant of the Stargazer minivan introduced last year. You can already preorder it starting from 325.6 million Rupiah.

At 4,495 mm long, 1,815 mm wide and 1,710 mm tall, the newcomer is longer and wider than the van it is based upon and even marginally taller (by 20 mm / 0.8 in). The ground clearance has been boosted from 185 to 200 mm (8 inches). The wheelbase stayed at 2,780 mm. Designed to compete with the Mitsubishi Xpander, the car received 17-inch wheels, a distinct radiator grille pattern, a plastic body kit for the sills and bumpers, a sculpted hood, roof rails and a large spoiler for the tailgate.

Like its donor, the Stargazer X is strictly a FWD car. It uses a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine to drive the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission. The six-speed manual option available for the minivan is not listed for the CUV. The output is identical at 115 PS (113 hp / 85 kW) and 143.8 Nm (106 lb-ft) of torque.

The interior can be configured with six or seven seats, just like the MPV. In the most basic trim level called Style, you get keyless entry, an engine start button, a 4.2-inch digital dash screen and an 8-inch infotainment system with wire-free Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Paying extra for the top trim named Prime gets you fake leather seats, an eight-channel Bose audio system, a wireless phone charger and a number of driving aids – collision prevention, blind spot monitoring, lane control and drowsiness alert.
