Hyundai Staria van makes domestic debut

Hyundai has officially launched the Staria in South Korea. The van comes in a number of variants, including Cargo with a 3-seat cabin and 5 cubic meters of trunk space. There is also a 2-row modification of it, as well as passenger versions for 7, 9 and 11 people.

Powering all versions is the same 2.2-liter diesel engine rated at 177 PS (175 hp / 130 kW) in conjunction with six-speed manual transmission. You could as well pay extra for eight-speed automatic, which is a requirement if you want all-wheel drive.

On its home market of South Korea, the Staria will also be available with a 3.5-liter gasoline and propane/butane V6 that links to an automatic gearbox and pumps out 240 PS (237 hp / 176 kW). The export version of this powertrain will be naturally aspirated gasoline and capable of 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW).

Standard equipment includes 17-inch wheels, air conditioner, seven airbags, and an analog dashboard. Domestic spec also lists AEB and adaptive cruise control under standard features, while a sensor-controlled HVAC system and a 10.25-inch touchscreen are optional.

The top spec is called Lounge in South Korea and simply Premium everywhere else. It comes with 18-inch wheels, 64 interior ambient lighting colors, and individual seats. Customers may opt for digital dash, dual-section panoramic roof, Bose audio, and ventilated seats for the front two rows.

Domestic sales will start on Thursday, April 15.
