Hyundai to bring a pimped-up Veloster to SEMA

Hyundai has devised a special version of its Veloster N hatchback for the upcoming SEMA show, called the Performance Concept.

The car sports restyled bumpers, hood, and rear wing, and has orange accents throughout the entire body. Inside, there are Sabelt seats and a new trim scheme that involves such premium materials as Alcantara and aluminum.

The only powertrain modification comes in the form of a Capristo exhaust system. The turbocharged four-cylinder engine with two liters of displacement is still there and likely still produces 275 horsepower (205 kilowatts).

The undercarriage has been reworked in no small way, though, and now benefits from H&R lowering springs, Daewon Steel roll stabilizers, Alcon brakes with 380mm discs, and 19-inch OZ wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tires.

The main reason for the Veloster N Performance Concept to exist is to show customers how it can be customized. Nothing is out of the ordinary, and any halfway competent Veloster owner can improvise a ‘tuning project’ like this in his or her own garage. That said, it is possible that Hyundai wants to release a limited series of such cars with the parts already preinstalled.
