Hyundai has confirmed it is working on the next generation of its Xcent subcompact sedan/saloon. Right now, the premiere is penciled in for March 2020.
The current Xcent has been around aince 2014 and received an update two years ago. Hyundai assembles the model in India based on the Grand i10 hatchback platform. Speaking of which: the next-gen Grand i10 debuted just a few days ago (see the video) with the ‘Nios’ suffix added to its name. In all likelihood, the new Xcent will also be getting the same suffix.
Hyundai says ‘Nios’ means ‘more’, or, more specifically, larger dimensions and a longer list of features. In terms of visual improvements, the new generation will be getting a redesigned radiator grille with LED DRLs right and left, new anti-fog lights incorporated in the bumper, and different taillights as well.
The engine range will remain untouched. Customers will still be offered a choice between a 1.2-liter, four-cylinder gasoline engine with 83 hp (62 kW) and its diesel counterpart with 75 hp (56 kW). Available transmissions are limited to manual and DCT.
The current Hyundai Xcent starts from 573,000 Indian Rupees (8,065 USD).
