The next-gen Infiniti QX60 comes out this spring, and here are a few bits of information regarding its all-wheel drive system.
Faster response is advertised as the main improvement over the old generation: the system can now engage the rear axle in advance to prevent skidding in certain cases. The coupling is hydraulic, rather than electromagnetic, and uses road-scanning sensors to determine when AWD may be needed.
The rear axle receives 50% of the total torque by default, and you can use ABLS to redirect the torque from one side of the car to the other on slippery roads and in other conditions of poor traction.
The car will go on sale in the United States before the end of the year, packing a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 299 PS (295 hp / 220 kW).
