Infiniti sheds some light on the audio system of the QX80 SUV

The next-generation flagship SUV known as the Infiniti QX80 doesn’t exist in metal yet, unless you count the QX Monograph Concept. However, the automaker hopes to launch production later this year. At the CES show, Infiniti revealed that it had teamed up with audio professionals from Klipsch to endow the off-roader with a truly unique and high-quality sound system.

Founded in 1946, Klipsch is a U.S.-based company specializing in hi-end home audio solutions. It had never cooperated with companies in the car industry before: Infiniti assures us that the QX80 will be the world’s first premium SUV with a Klipsch audio setup on board.

The company reasons that top-notch audio is one of the biggest priorities for customers in this segment of the market. As such, the QX80 will come equipped with whopping 24 Klipsch Reference Premiere speakers, including titanium-cased tweeters, an 8-inch subwoofer and a 24-channel amp.

The important caveat is that it will not be part of the standard equipment. Those looking for a Klipsch sound experience in their car will have to pay a hefty premium (no specifics yet).

As for the Infiniti QX Monograph, it debuted last summer as a tech demo of the final production SUV. Among other things, it sported a radiator grille with a pattern inspired by bamboo forest, as well as stacked headlights.
