Interested in a 63-year-old EV missing a steering wheel?

A 1959 Taylor-Dynn Trident two-seater will go under the hammer at the end of the month packing an early electric motor design and a steering bar instead of the conventional wheel. According to the seller, only around 50 units was made.

In late 1940s, a farmer named R. Taylor designed a compact electric chassis to carry animal food around the farm. His neighbors were interested in the invention and asked him for another one. Thus was the predecessor of the Trident EV made. It went into production when Fred Dynn joined the company in 1951.

Originally designed as an open-top passenger EV for two, this example was completely restored two years ago with its batteries replaced – or so the seller claims. It maxes out at 40 km/h (25 mph) and has around 80 km (50 miles) of range. The headlights, the horn and the turn blinkers are all present, and the vehicle is street-legal.

There is no asking price, but according to Carscoops, a similar car fetched $19,800 USD at an auction last year. It might have been the same car.
