Taiwan-based Foxconn Technology Group, primarily known for fabricating the hardware for Apple products such as the iPhone, has signed a partnership agreement with the government of Henan Province, China.
According to this document, Foxconn undertakes to build a number of experimental factories in the region to produce electric cars and solid-state batteries. The corporation expects to invest around 1,000,000,000 CNY in the project, CarNewsChina reports.
The new industrial complex will serve as a technology showcase of sorts, advertising the capabilities of Foxconn to all automakers worldwide. It will be located in Zhengzhou, the city housing the world’s largest iPhone factory.
