Isuzu unveils two extreme off-road concepts

Japanese car manufacturer Isuzu has come to a motor show in Melbourne, Australia with two prototype vehicles, the D-Max pickup truck and the MU-X Concept X SUV. Both sport eye-catchy looks and impressive off-road capabilities.

The two-cars have quite a bit in common. Both the SUV and the pickup come with 20-inch wheels clad in off-road tires, large ground clearance and five-link suspension. They also feature high-end shock absorbers, heavy-duty brake rotors, winches on either side and bulging hoods with air intakes.

The bodies of both cars are wrapped in vinyl film decorated with black-and-white patterns. There are off-road bumper guards and headlights with lenses and red backlight.

Both vehicles are driven by six-speed manual transmissions and 3.0-liter turbo diesel engines with 176 hp (131 kW).

Isuzu never specified whether the D-Max and/or MU-X Concept X will eventually be launched into series production.
