3rd-gen Isuzu D-Max teased on video

The second generation of the Isuzu D-Max pickup truck has been out and about for eight long years, and the company has finally announced an update coming up on October 19, 2019.

The next generation will be revealed at a special event in Thailand. It will keep its body-on-frame construction, solid-beam rear axle and on-demand AWD while getting a rear diff lock (you can briefly see the corresponding button in the teaser video here). The engine lineup will stay unchanged, with the 1.9-liter diesel series meant for Europe and the 3.0-liter V4 for all other markets.

It is official that the next D-Max will be a much more comfortable and well-equipped vehicle than its predecessor. Among other things, it will get a wide range of modern safety aids, such as an emergency braking system co-designed with Mazda.

The new Isuzu D-Max is slated to reach markets outside of Thailand in late 2020. A technically identical, but differently styled pickup truck will simultaneously debut with a Mazda badge on it.
