Isuzu MU-X gains a hardcore off-road edition thanks to Arctic Trucks

Off-road tuning specialist Arctic Trucks has rolled out its own take on the Isuzu MU-X. The body-on-frame SUV rides higher in this version, makes use of off-road tires and benefits from rugged body improvements.

Additional body-to-frame attachments have resulted in significantly improved overall rigidity and reliability, the company claims. The wheel arches were redesigned anew and fender flares were added to accommodate 35-inch tires wrapped around 17-inch wheel rims. New shock absorbers and springs enabled increasing the ride height to 278 mm (10.86 inches).

As a result, the car is now full two meters tall (instead of 1,875 mm) and whopping 2,060 mm wide (instead of 1,870 mm). The length stayed the same, but approach and departure angles were improved for better overlanding performance. To make it more stable on uneven terrain, the track was widened from 1,570 to 1,695 mm.

Powering the hardcore SUV is its standard 3.0-liter TDI engine pumping out 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW) for the six-speed automatic transmission to carry to all four wheels.

Arctic Trucks says only custom orders are processed with no premade cars in stock. The assembly will take at least a week, and the road legalization another three weeks or more. All prices are private.
