Jaguar signals about the upcoming J-Pace flagship

Reports are coming in that Jaguar will be releasing an all-electric crossover SUV called the J-Pace, which will become the marque’s new battery-powered flagship.

The car should occupy a market niche above the latest I-Pace (see the gallery and the video for more). No information exists regarding its powertrain and design, but chances are good that it will share the MLA platform with the next-gen Range Rover and Jaguar XJ. According to Jaguar Land Rover, the MLA architecture lends itself well to gasoline and diesel engines, as well as various hybrid and all-electric powertrains.

The J-Pace will allegedly offer all-wheel drive in all specs and be the main rival of the Tesla Model X. It should ship in an assortment of battery sizes ranging up to 100 kWh. Standard driving range is being estimated at 300 miles (483 km) according to the WLTP protocol.

The launch timeframe remains unknown.
