Jaguar has unveiled the Vision Gran Turismo Roadster, a concept car for the Gran Turismo video game series inspired by classic Jaguar D-Type looks from the 1950s and powered by a trio of electric motors rated north of 1,000 horsepower.
D-Type design inspirations can be found in the body outlines, flared fenders, round LED headlamps, a shark fin, and the overall layout of the car. The D-Type debuted with the fin attachment 68 years ago, and it was static. In contrast, the video game supercar features a dynamic fin that uses a stabilizer to auto-rotate at certain accelerations. The developers claim the whole body and kit have been aerodynamically optimized with the aid of state-of-the-art technology.
Triple electric motors drive the wheels with 1,020 PS (1,006 hp / 750 kW), carrying a lightweight body made of carbon fiber and aluminum alloys. Battery capacity remains undiscussed, but Jaguar claims the cells are distributed evenly throughout the car to ensure perfect per-axle weight distribution.
As a result, the imaginary GT Roadster can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in around two seconds and ultimately exceed 322 km/h (200 mph).
