One-eighth of a million pound sterling buys you a 1985 Jaguar XJS modified by Lister in 1987 with new bodywork and a powerful engine. It is believed to be the first Lister droptop built on the XJS platform of that generation.
The second owner of the car decided to style it up a bit and handed it over to Lister for an exterior overhaul, new suspension, wheels and cabin re-trim.
A few years later, the car lost its stock 5.3-liter non-turbo V12 with 300 PS (296 hp / 221 kW) in favor of a seven-liter V12 capable of 503 PS (496 hp / 370 kW) and 691 Nm (510 lb-ft) of torque. Further upgrades included a Getrag five-speed manual transmission and an aftermarket exhaust system.
Ten years ago, the owner of the car decided to subject it to complete restoration, including a full teardown of the bodywork and suspension. The engine received a new ECU and exhaust system, which raised the output by a further 60 PS (60 hp / 45 kW). The transmission and coupling were also revised in the process.
The restoration took two years to complete and cost the owner – who is selling the car right now – £103,000. In view of this, the premium asked looks rather modest. We are told that the sports car has around 16,000 kilometers (10,000 miles) on it in total, including some 3,000 kilometers (1,700 miles) after the restoration.
