Sad news for all Jaguar R fans: according to Wayne Burgess, head of Jaguar SVO, the luxury car manufacturer has made the decision to permanently discontinue the “R” high-performance vehicle line.
He explained that there is an undesirable competition between the company’s R and SVR car series which is better avoided.
The first vehicle to be released according to the new strategy will be the Jaguar F-Pace SUV. It will hit the market in three specifications: Base, S, and SVR.
The original Jaguar F-Pace SVR debuted at the recently concluded 2018 New York International Auto Show. It came equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 capable of 550 hp (410 kW) and 680 Nm (501 lb·ft) of torque. Unlike its Base counterpart, the SVR model features stiffer shock absorption and overall different suspension.
