Automaker Callum founded by ex-Jaguar designer Ian Callum has officially opened its pre-order books for Skye EV. You can make a reservation against a £500 deposit, with the full car priced from £80,000 to £110,000 depending on the options.
Callum has also published the first interior photos and some technical details. The images depict the electric off-roader in a range of environments ranging from urban to wilderness and wearing all kinds of tires from asphalt to mud.
It’s official that the vehicle has two rows of seats with two seats in each. Callum admits that the rear row is a bit cramped and thus only really suitable for kids. On the upside, you can remove it altogether when not used and get extra trunk space. A sporty steering wheel, a small dash display and a rather unusual elevated center console with large rotary dials on it are all part of the base trim. What the dials do is something that remains to be clarified.
From the physical perspective, the ATV is built around a space-frame and is 4,047 mm (158 inches) long. It features two electric motors and sprints from zero to highway speed in around four seconds thanks to weighing as little as 1,150 kilos (2,535 lbs). A 42-kWh battery pack gives it up an estimated 274 km (170 miles) of driving range, but those who need more will be able to opt for a premium battery design that only takes 10 minutes to top up.
